Description

Sweet and tangy, yummy Russian recipe my grandmother made. It's fast, inexpensive, very easy to make and will become a fav. quick meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. Kielbasa
  • 2 c. or 1 sm. package, jar or can sauerkraut - well drained
  • 1 med. onion, finely chopped (about 1 c.)
  • 1 sm. (8 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 2 T. brown sugar
  • 1 T. butter (can use margarine)
  • 3/4 c. water

Method

In large pan saute onion in butter, add sauerkraut, brown sugar, tomato sauce and water. In separate pan, boil Kielbasa for about 5 minutes. Take Kielbasa out, cut into 3 to 4" length sections and add to sauerkraut. Simmer 20 - 30 minutes. Serve warm.
