Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup(s) sugar
  • 1 cup(s) light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup(s) margarine
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 1/2 cup(s) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup(s) hot water
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 item(s) egg
  • 1 1/3 tsp star anise
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground allspice

Method

heat syrup then add sugar and shortening and hot water. cool. Add dry ingredients and egg. Let stand for a few days in the kitchen then add flour to make consistency so that you can roll thin rolls. Chill dough (makes easier to roll out) roll dough into skinny rolls and cut dough and place on a cookie sheet. bake in a 350 oven until brown (6-10)

One serving is 12 small cookies.
