Easy - for beginners Serves: 12

Description

These easy, fall-off-the-bone country-style pork ribs feature a delicious homemade BBQ sauce with a perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and smoky flavors. Prepared the day before and slow-cooked to tender perfection, then finished on the grill or under the broiler for that irresistible caramelized crust. A truly satisfying meal for any BBQ lover.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon EACH garlic powder, onion powder and Tabasco Sauce
  • 4 pounds country style pork ribs

Method

These have to be started the day before for best results. Start by making the barbecue sauce. In a 2 quart sauce pan combine the ketchup, vinegar, molasses, honey, liquid smoke, salt, garlic and onion powders and Tabasco. Whisk it all together until it is smooth, and then simmer it uncovered for about 30 minutes.

Place the ribs in a casserole dish. Use about a third of the barbecue sauce to coat the raw pork ribs. Cover the dish with tin foil. Refrigerate the ribs overnight. The next day, place the foil covered ribs into the oven and bake them at 300° for 2 to 2-1/2 hours. This will cook them through and make them very tender. Remove them from the oven and take them out of the dish. (There will be a lot of liquid in the dish. You can use this to cook rice if you like). Coat them again in the barbecue sauce and grill or broil them for about 2 to 4 minutes per side. Be careful not to scorch them, because they will burn quickly.
